NAACP: Amplify Megaphone Mailer

Direct Mailer • Spring 2025

“Amplify Black voices” has, unfortunately, become one of those phrases people just say without actually doing anything about it. This direct mailer concept for the ACLU's Racial Justice Program takes that language and makes it literal: an eco-friendly cardboard megaphone, delivered to your door, ready to use.

The mailer pairs the physical object with copy that doesn't mince words: “We're not asking permission anymore.” The insert explains what the ACLU's Racial Justice Program actually does (fighting mass incarceration, protecting voting rights, demanding police accountability) and then puts a tool directly in your hands to make your voice heard. Take it to a protest. A town hall. A school board meeting. Anywhere you've been talked over, dismissed, or ignored.

The concept works on two levels. For Black recipients, it's a physical reminder that your voice matters and deserves to be loud. For allies, it's a quiet challenge: everyone says they want to amplify marginalized voices, but most people stop at the Instagram share. This puts something in your hands and asks what you're actually going to do with it.
