The painting is a birthday gift, which makes it rude to throw out, and hideous enough that our protagonist tries anyway. What follows is a long negotiation with an object that has no interest in negotiating. We spent a truly stupid amount of time hunting for a clown painting ugly enough to carry an entire movie.
