Typography Posters

Digital  •  Fall 2023

In this project, I explored the historical development of typography through a series of three posters. Each poster focuses on a single typeface family, showcasing its design characteristics, historical context, and influence.

I chose Avant Garde (1968), Bodoni (1790), and Fette Fraktur  (late 1800s), representing a range of periods and classifications. The posters include information on the typeface's designer, origin, and historical significance, along with a visual representation of the typeface itself and its influence on later designs.

For Avant Garde, I highlighted its role in shaping the visual landscape of the era and its influence on future generations of designers. Bodoni's innovative design and enduring legibility are explored, while Fette Fraktur's impact on German typography and its complex history are presented.

This project allowed me to explore the rich history of typography and learn how specific typefaces have shaped visual communication across different eras.
